The Mentoring Academy is a strategic project of the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança (IPB), coordinated by the School of Technology and Management (ESTiG) in collaboration with the institution’s other units. Its main purpose is to promote the full integration and success — both academic and personal — of all students.
Main Objectives
Integration and Inclusion: Facilitate adaptation to higher education, ensuring effective socio-academic inclusion.
- Prevention of Academic Failure: Identify early difficulties and constraints that may jeopardise the student’s academic path.
- Quality of Teaching: Strengthen the flow of information between the academic community and students, promoting equal opportunities.
- Decision Support: Guide students in making the most appropriate choices throughout their academic journey.
Areas of Action
The programme is structured into three complementary components:
Mentoring: Focused on the student’s social and academic integration.
- Tutoring: Aimed at personalised pedagogical support.
- Pedagogical Training: Designed for lecturers to share best practices and improve student success.
An Open Community
This is a plural initiative that involves not only students and academic staff (active or retired), but also researchers, non-academic staff and members external to the IPB community.
